Change: from the inside out

Change for Good is a reinvention process that helps you (finally!) smash the fitness, weight change or lifestyle goals you’ve worked hard to achieve, but somehow keep falling off the wagon.

If you’ve tried to introduce new, good habits, and kick the old ones, and have had some success – but then find yourself back where you begun, almost without noticing – this program is for you!

This is a very different program that what you may have already done, because it’s been developed by world leaders in change psychology, drawing on evidence-based psychological research to tackle the hidden blocks that get in your way. It’s not your fault that you’ve tried and failed in the past – you just didn’t have the tools and conditions to succeed. That stops now.

Change can be easy

It’s easy to make short-term change – in fact, it’s great fun! The quick results you get from some changes are very motivating, and even addictive. The challenge is in making the change stick, not just for weeks, but for good.

Have you ever:

  • Gone on a diet for a period and lost some weight … only to put it back on again?

  • Introduced a new eating regime or new foods into your routine … only to find yourself reverting back to the old foods you know don’t serve you well?

  • Done a month-long challenge at the gym, or implemented a new exercise regime, felt super excited and empowered … only to drop the routine for seemingly no reason?

If this is you, and you’re sick and tired of this cycle of excitement and disappointment, then I welcome you to a totally new way to plant new habits so they thrive and bloom.

Change for Good is especially crafted for people who have a clear goal of trying to lose weight, get fit, or shift into a more healthy lifestyle, which they’ve tried to achieve before, but haven’t managed to make changes stick.

Motivation counts for nothing

You’ve likely heard someone say, “your goal mustn’t be that important, because otherwise you’d be motivated to make the change.” Research shows that’s not true.

Recent research revealed that six out of seven heart patients who were told they need to change their lifestyle habits within 12 months, or be at high risk of suffering a fatal heart attack, didn’t actually change. Imagine this – having the best of intentions to reduce the risk of death, and yet failing to do so.

Having the intention to change and actually doing so are two very different things. Even if the goal is to change or risk death, the vast majority are still unable to make the vital change.

What hope do we have if our goal is far smaller – like losing a bit of weight or getting fit?

Who am I?

I’m an Executive Coach with more than 15 years’ experience. I’m passionate about giving people the invaluable, evidence-based tools and techniques to better understand themselves.

As a keen advocate for health and wellness, I also know exactly how hard it can be to implement new routines and habits, regardless of how much you want to. I want to share with you the keys to unlock the door between where we are now, to where we want to be.

I’m accredited by Dr Lisa Lahey, creator of the immunity to change process, and have put more than 100 individuals through this process, with sterling results. I began my studies in undergraduate psychology 20 years ago and have a Masters in Applied Science (Coaching Psychology) and a Graduate Certificate in change management.

About the program

Two prominent psychologists, Dr Robert Kegan and Dr Lisa Lahey, have dedicated years of research into the challenge of change and they discovered that the goal itself is not relevant (such as avoiding a fatal heart attack).

Change for good, based on Kegan and Lahey’s Immunity to Change process, is designed to help you uncover and conquer your hidden mechanism of the mind to build the bridge between what you want to do and what you do.

What does the program involve?

We kick off with a group workshop in Maroubra, Sydney, 11AM -3PM, July 28. In this workshop, we take the first step in the program of the program together – to discover what your hidden mechanism is.

We do this by drawing a full picture of all the ways you work against your own visible goal (the one you’ve been trying to get to stick). Then, we uncover your hidden commitments, your invisible goals that are competing against your visible goal and causing you to ‘get in your own way’.

Most of the time, these hidden competing commitments are protecting us from subconscious fears– fears normally carried from childhood which no longer make sense for us in our adult lives. By uncovering these specific fears, we begin the work to detach the truth from our fears and hence unlock the mechanism that’s getting in our way of achieving our goals.

You’ll then meet me once a month over the following five months for one-to-one sessions, with a little homework to strength what we speak about, and support from me in between, including reflections, journaling, behavioural experiments.

This stuff doesn't happen overnight

We’re not just introducing new habits, we’re excavating our own belief systems and the way in which we interact and relate with the world. The work of deeply understanding your hidden mechanism so that you can get out of your own way and implement real changes in your life isn’t necessarily a quick process.

The five ongoing monthly coaching sessions are designed to support you through this. Having someone to coach and support you through this process is crucial to the work.

Stop wasting time, effort and hope

Dashed hopes and expectations and the self-flagellation that follows isn’t helpful. You don’t lack willpower. It’s not that the goal isn’t personally important or motivating. You just haven’t had the key to unlock the hidden sabotages at work that are destroying your positive changes.
